Back to Sedona! We always seem to head north for hiking until it stays cooler here in the valley. We picked Boynton Canyon for the beauty of the area and the formations. Unfortunately they've built a huge, expensive resort right along the first mile of the trail and this takes away some of the pleasure of hiking, but once you get past that it's the usual scenic beauty you expect. No, we didn't take the side loop to the vortex.
Always good to know where you are going
Great scenery
The colors were muted but still very nice
Now we're in a different group of trees and their coloring is different
End of the trail
The end of the trail, at least for now. There's a sign to go no further so the area can heal
More color
The colors are always different depending on the light
This rufous -sided towhee was in the bushes at the end of the trail and he was screaming at
It was hard to get a decent shot of him because he kept moving around and screaming
