Since summer in Arizona is a furnace and it's too hot even at the rim, we decided to visit "The Hall of Flames" museum.
Get it? Furnace. Flames. Ya, well.
The museum displays fire apparatus from 1725 to 1969. Some of the early pieces look more like works of art than fire fighting equipment.
It's pretty amazing to see how the techniques and equipment advanced over time.
Early Japanese fire pump
Pawtucket, RI fire pump. Note the beautiful brass and artwork on it
This one rotated horizontally and spewed water as it turned. Not real popular
This is actually a parade version never intended for actual fire fighting
I wish I could remember which community has this as it's motto
An obvious advancement in design. Spify looking
This is from an early dispatch center. Anyone remember fire boxes on corners?
A more modern call center
These are tanks for chemical surpressents.
